Breed: Chihuahua
The
Chihuahua is the smallest breed of dog in the world
and was named after the state of Chihuahua in Mexico.
He is a graceful, alert, swift-moving little dog with
a saucy expression. Two distinct breed types, one with
a long coat of soft texture, the other with a short
coat. Identical otherwise, both can be whelped in the
same litter.
Adored for his small size, the Chihuahua is a
bright eyed, dainty dog who is perfect for apartment
living or homes without large yards.
Chihuahua colors range from snow white to jet
black and can be solid, marked or splashed. The
typical Chihuahua size is 5-6 pounds and 6-9 inches.
Chihuahuas are affectionate but they are also alert
and make an excellent little watchdog. They are very
loyal and get attached to one or two persons. The
Chihuahua is very protective and can bark at the
slightest provocation. Chihuahuas are very sociable
with their own kind. So several Chihuahuas can live
happily in the same household.
The Chihuahua is the oldest canine breed in North
America and recognized by CKC, FCI, AKC, UKC, KCGB,
CKC, ANKC, NKC, NZKC, APRI, and ACR. |
